About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Food Processing Equipment Commissioning & Service Engineer to join our growing team. This dynamic role combines hands-on commissioning, testing, preventative maintenance, and service repairs on a wide range of food processing inspection equipment, including X-rays, checkweighers, metal detectors, and process inspection machinery.
As part of this role, you will be responsible for ensuring equipment is properly installed, fully operational, and meets safety and performance standards. You will carry out both workshop-based tasks and field service visits to customer sites. The role offers variety and autonomy, with the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology within the food industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Commissioning & Testing: Set up, test, and calibrate new food processing inspection equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with customer requirements.
Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on X-rays, checkweighers, metal detectors, and other inspection machinery to minimize downtime and ensure long-term reliability.
Service & Repairs: Diagnose faults and repair equipment either in the workshop or on customer sites across the UK, responding to breakdowns efficiently.
Field Service: Provide on-site technical support to customers, ensuring minimal disruption to their operations while maintaining high standards of service.
Customer Support: Build strong relationships with customers, providing training and advice on the correct use and maintenance of equipment.
Documentation: Complete service reports, test results, and maintenance records in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Skills & Experience:
Technical Expertise: Experience with food processing inspection equipment (X-rays, checkweighers, metal detectors) is highly desirable, though training can be provided.
Electrical/Mechanical Skills: Strong background in electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems, with the ability to read technical diagrams and troubleshoot complex machinery.
Field Service Experience: Previous experience in a field service role, working with industrial equipment or similar machinery.
Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose and repair faults under pressure in a timely and effective manner.
Customer-Focused: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service.
Flexibility: Willingness to travel across the UK, with occasional overnight stays, and work both in the field and the workshop as needed.
Requirements:
NVQ/BTEC or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
Full UK driving licence (essential).
Willingness to travel to customer sites and occasionally work flexible hours to meet client needs.
Experience with food processing equipment is advantageous but not essential.
