An excellent opportunity has arisen within Tring for an experienced vehicle Technician

Responsibilities:

Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and brake inspections, to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently.

Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with vehicles using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals. Repair and replace faulty components, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems, to restore vehicle performance and functionality.

Vehicle Servicing: Carry out scheduled servicing and repairs on vehicles according to manufacturer specifications and dealership guidelines. Perform tune-ups, alignments, and other service procedures to maintain vehicle performance and reliability.

Technical Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot complex vehicle problems and malfunctions, utilizing technical knowledge, diagnostic tools, and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and develop effective repair solutions.

Computerized Systems: Use computerized diagnostic equipment and software to diagnose vehicle issues, interpret fault codes, and perform software updates and programming as needed.

Quality Control: Ensure all repairs and maintenance work meets quality standards and complies with safety regulations. Conduct thorough inspections and testing of repaired vehicles to verify proper operation and performance.

Documentation: Document all work performed on vehicles, including repairs, parts used, and labor hours, accurately and legibly on repair orders and service records. Maintain detailed records of vehicle maintenance and repair history.

Customer Communication: Communicate with customers to explain vehicle diagnoses, recommended repairs, and associated costs. Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and requests in a professional and courteous manner.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other technicians, service advisors, and parts department staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs. Share knowledge and expertise to support team members and promote a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

Automotive Technical Training: Completion of a formal automotive technical training program or apprenticeship, leading to a certificate, diploma, or associate degree in automotive technology or a related field.

Certifications: Possession of relevant certifications, such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications, is highly desirable. Certifications in specific areas, such as engine repair, electrical systems, or brakes, demonstrate expertise in those areas.

Experience: Previous experience as a vehicle technician or mechanic in an automotive repair facility is preferred. Experience working with a variety of vehicle makes and models is advantageous.

Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills to diagnose and repair vehicle systems and components. Familiarity with automotive diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose complex vehicle issues and develop effective repair solutions. Ability to analyze symptoms, test components, and interpret technical data to identify root causes of problems.

Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to perform accurate inspections, diagnoses, and repairs. Thoroughness in following repair procedures and maintaining detailed records of work performed.

Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers, colleagues, and supervisors. Ability to explain technical information and repair recommendations in a clear and understandable manner.

Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive work environment. Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others to improve skills and expertise.
